About Us

Thanks for your interest in the Readington Trail Association!

Readington Trail Association (RTA) members can be anyone who enjoys riding or hiking. Together, we work to preserve the rural atmosphere of Readington through establishing and maintaining many miles of beautiful trails throughout the Township.

RTA was incorporated as a non-profit entity in 1994. In addition to maintaining existing trails in the township, we seek to form a contiguous trail network that provides open space for members while maintaining the agricultural heritage of the land using both open space and private land access granted by landowners.

Our membership spans a diverse spectrum of disciplines from hiking, fox hunting, dressage and driving, to pleasure riding and competitive trail. Horseback riders are both English and Western.

As an organization of responsible citizens, we maintain a general liability policy for our members and landowners. Yearly dues is used to pay for insurance, trail maintenance, trail and road signage, public relations, supplies and postage.

Sponsored Activities

Our members meet monthly, in the evening of the second Thursday of each month. We host a monthly ride and trail clearing and maintain this website with the latest club news and information. In 2007, we hosted weekly rides on Sundays through the winter and we will be participating in the Hunterdon Horse Expo, the Whitehouse Memorial Day Parade, a gymkhana, National Trails Day celebration, and beach rides at Island Beach State Park. Our annual trail pace in June continues to attract participants from all over NJ.
