October 14 Club Ride Recap- We had 14 riders and beautiful weather for the club ride! We broke down into 3 groups and rode various sections of the trail pace course. Restults from our trail marking observations will be discussed at the November meeting.

Nov 11th- We had a good turnout for trail clearing and permanent marking. Partial marking of the trail plus clearing of portions of the zig zag trail were completed. Thanks to all who participated!

Fall Beach Ride Recap- Though the weather was questionable here, the weather at the beach was fantastic for our fall beach ride at Island Beach State Park. We had a fabulous 2.5 hour ride and all the horses were well behaved. Afterwards, the weary riders enjoyed a hot meal at Tiffany's.

Effective June 4th, RTA and Readington Twp Road Dept successfully partnered to purchase and install 25 MPH road signs in 17 locations on municipal roads! Many thanks to the anonymous RTA member who donated 20 sets of the signs and to the road dept for donating the posts, mounting hardware and labor! Thanks also to the RTA members who moved this project forward. This has been a key intiative of RTA for the past year and is a major milestone in safety for both motorists as well as riders! RTA continues to work with the County on the installation of the signs on several county roads.

RTA hosted an open gymkhana on August 26, 2007 at the Round Valley Youth Center. There were a total of 11 classes- First place prizes and ribbons to 6th place were awarded in each class as well as high point champion and reserve champion awards and prizes. August Club Ride Recap: We had a beautiful day and fun 2.5 hour ride on Saturday August 18th, riding out from the Round Valley Youth Center. Besides one horse getting a bee sting on her ear and a big tree just plain falling for no apparent reason alongside the trail (which the horses didn't like too much!), it was a great ride!

The Tewksbury Trail Association Hunter Pace is coming right up on Sunday September 9th at Christie Hoffman Park! Mark you calendars and tell your friends! Click here for more details. See you there!

July 21 Joint Ride with Tewksbury Trail Assocation Recap- We had a beautiful cool and breezy summer day and a great turnout for the ride. A total of 20+ riders split out into 3 groups and conquered the river trail obstacles that included assorted bridges, banks, river crossings, a freight train and the Route 31 underpass. Everyone returned to camp safely and enjoyed light refreshments. Thanks to all the members of Tewksbury who came out to ride!

July 15th Trail Ride Recap- 4 Riders enjoyed an awesome day ride at the Watching Reservation. Cool, shady, footed trails with beautiful scenery!

Readington Trail Association participated in the Whitehouse Memorial Day Parade on May 28, 2007. We had an awesome float, a horse and carriage and 9 riders (and a clean up crew). The weather was great and our parade contingent drew lots of admiration and applause! Following the parade, we hosted a booth at the Community Day celebration, that promoted safety/education around the 25 mph horse and rider road signs. In addition, children decorated horsehoes donated and painted by club members. A HUGE THANK YOU to all who helped out and participated to make the parade lots of fun, educational, and a huge success! A Tewksbury Barn Tour will be help on Sunday July 15 from 10-4 pm. The tour is co-sponsored by the Tewksbury Historical Society and the Tewksbury Trail Assoc. The tour features 5 barns, some old, some newer including Nona Garson's The Ridge Farm. For tickets pls call The Historical Society at 908 832-6734. On the day of the event Tour-ists will go to the Christie Hoffman Farm Park on Fairmount Road, pick up their tickets and a map of the tour, and take it from there.

Readington Trail Association's National Trails Day 2007 Event was a huge success!! On Saturday, June 2, 2007 we had a great turnout for our trail clearing and marking expedition. We fueled up with some delicious freshly baked bagels, then got down to work with our chain saws, kubota ATV, assorted clearing equipment, and 4 horses. Although it was a hot humid day, we managed to complete all the clearing on our 7 mile trail pace course and mark about 80% of the course. The day ended with some nice give-a-ways for the volunteers. A BIG THANK YOU to all who participated!

Readington Trail Association joined the other members of the Central Jersey Trail Coalition to host a booth at the 2007 Hunterdon Horse Expo, May 19-20. Our booth had the 25 mph t-shirts available, along with storyboards about what makes a good trail horse. Membership info for the various clubs was made available along with "10 tips for trail safety" and a brochure about the 25 mph horse and rider signs. Our group also provided 2 demos- one on pleasure driving and another on trail safety/etiquette. Thanks to all who helped make our booth a success!

Sunday March 25th Trail Ride Recap: We had a healthy turnout for the ride, and good footing and weather was enjoyed by all!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: We are confirmed to be on the agenda with the County Freeholders for the March 27th. meeting at 6:00 pm to discuss the 25 mph road signs. We have 5 county roads where we have requested placement of the signs in both directions. Let's unite to demonstrate the importance of safety and motorist education!

The NJ Quarter Horse Assoc. is hosting an all breed charity ride at Assunpink on March 25, 2007 to benefit wounded soldiers of Iraq. Registration fee includes breakfast, dinner, ride, special awards and prizes. Read the press release and download/print the registration form. Please note that NJAQHA is offering RTA members a $5 discount. Come show your support, hope to see you there!
Sunday, March 18th Beach Ride Recap: 9 riders particpated in the spring beach ride at Island State Park. Suprisingly, there was no snow at the beach so we had some exhilarating trots and gallops. Sue and Al's youngster Trooper thought a roll in the sand might be fun...luckily his rider took that as her cue to dismount, so no casualties!
Sunday, March 11th Trail Ride Recap: 5 riders enjoyed a 2 hour ride at Round Valley. Lots of hill work and footing was reasonable despite some mud. Thanks to Monica and Jake for coordinating the ride.

Saturday, March 3rd Trail Ride Recap: Despite some snow and ice remnants, we had 2 brave riders that rode 8.5 miles on the Columbia Trail. Shrugging off the wind and brief showers, it was a great ride!

Medieval Times Trip Recap: We had a total of 42 members and friends attend the Medieval Times trip on February 10th. The dinner show was exciting and featured Lipizzaner Stallions performing Haute Ecole movements in addition to an evening of fantasy, jousting, sword fights and other assorted mounted games. Many thanks to Al for coordinating this event!

Sunday Trail Ride, February 11 Recap: 3 riders braved the weather for a 7 mile ride on the Columbia Trail. The trail proved to be sheltered from the wind and the footing was reasonably good considering the deep freeze of late.

The RTA Holiday Party was held on January 13, 2007, kindly hosted by Keriann and Mr. & Mrs. Glassman. We had a great turnout with 65 guests, including several new members. The Glassman's opened their house to us for tours of the spectacular holiday decorations. The food was outstanding, many thanks to Carolyn and Frank Ruffa for providing the food at cost (plus a few free emergency trays and 6 free cases of soda). If you are in the neighborhood of Clinton, stop by and patronize Dominick's restuarant. The evening was highlighted by Nicole who brought her Kareoke machine and MC'd for us (thanks Nicole!) and our ever popular (though somewhat underhanded!) gift exchange game. Thanks again to all for a memorable celebration.

Sunday Trail Ride, January 28, 2007 Recap: 8 riders joined up for an 8+ mile trail ride on Columbia Trail on Sunday. The weather was chilly but not unbearable so we enjoyed a brisk ride. Footing was good and the scenery was spectacular! Thanks to Keriann for offering to bat "cleanup" on the way home, I am sure that the jogers and hikers appreciated her efforts!

Sunday Trail Ride, January 21, 2007 Recap: 4 riders participated in the Sunday trail ride at Christie Hoffman Park. Despite the footing being slick in a few places and some assorted horse acrobatics, the 1+ hour ride was enjoyed by all.

New Year's Day Trail Ride, January 1, 2007 Recap: 5 brave riders dodged the raindrops for a fun 2 hour/8 mile ride on the Columbia Trail. We must have timed it just right as the rain held off, but definitely offered a tropical rainforest backdrop..

Sunday Trail Ride, January 7, 2007 Recap: We had a great day and strong turnout for the canal ride on Sunday. A total of 12 riders participated for a 2 hour ride. We parked in the back of the ranger station by Blackwell Mills Causeway, then headed south on the D & R Canal towards Princeton. We also did a short sampler of the 6 Mile Run Trail. The horses were all well behaved despite some hikers, bikers, water fowl and some challenging footing when we crossed the spillway...but all in all a fabulous ride and the weather could not have been nicer. We all missed Monica and Jake... many thanks to Renee and Pam for leading the ride in her absence. Riders expressed interest in scheduling a ride on the 6 Mile Run Trail sometime soon. On Monday January 1, 2007, 5 brave riders dodged the raindrops for a fun 2 hour/8 mile ride on the Columbia Trail.
